About

Ellone-Loire publishes sourced, dated lists of monarchs: who ruled, in what order, when, and how the crown passed. Every record is checked against at least two independent published sources, which are named on the page, and is labelled reviewed only when they agree. Where reliable sources disagree on a date or a succession, we show it as disputed rather than picking a default. The full process is on the methodology page.

What we cover

The site is organized around four areas of history: the Russian monarchy, from the Romanov dynasty through the fall of the empire; European monarchy as an institution, its terms, ranks, and modern examples; England and Britain’s royal succession, from the Plantagenets through the House of Windsor; and the Roman and Byzantine empires, from Augustus through the fall of Constantinople and the later Holy Roman Empire.

How the site is funded

Ellone-Loire carries no advertising. Our reference pages, the monarch lists and history guides, carry no affiliate links. We earn from a small number of clearly labelled guides to books and DNA test kits, which link to the products on Amazon. Each of those pages says so directly under its title, and the choices on them are made from published facts, not from commission rates.
